On the trail of the young Sieg. We follow the Sieg from its source to Mudersbach-Niederschelderhütte.
Siegquelle (Bad Laasphe-Großenbach)
Siegen-Niederschelden
From its source in Siegen-Wittgenstein, the Sieg cycle path runs through Germany's most densely wooded district via Netphen and Siegen.
We recommend using the regional rail services between Mudersbach-Niederschelderhütte (Niederschelden station) first to Au (Sieg) with the RB 90 and from there to Windeck-Rosbach (S12/S19).
The official Siegen cycle route then begins in Windeck-Rosbach. It leads via Eitorf, Hennef, Siegburg and Troisdorf to the confluence with the Rhine at Niederkassel-Mondor. The Sieg cycle path crosses the Sieg several times along the entire route.
Simply drive to the junctions one after the other and follow the route without looking at the map. The junctions are also linked to the tour on the map. More information about the junction system in Südwestfalen can be found here.Junction 18Junction 39Junction 40Junction 41Junction 43Junction 37
Due to the poor quality of the cycle path in the Altenkirchen district section, a family-friendly long-distance cycle path is unfortunately not available there until further notice. In many cases, the current path runs directly on the busy B 62 federal highway and is therefore too dangerous. We therefore recommend using the regional rail service between Mudersbach-Niederschelderhütte (Niederschelden station) first to Au (Siegen) with the RB 90 and from there to Windeck-Rosbach (S12/S19).
A45 to Siegen, then to Kaan-Marienborn and on the L719 via Feuersbach, Deuz, Grissenbach and Walpersdorf to Volkholz, then keep right to Großenbach
